An icon with an aptitude for versatility and functionality designed in 1927 by Charlotte Perriand for her Paris atelier in Place Saint-Sulpice. The design was first exhibited at the Salon des Artistes Décorateurs [Decorative Artists Show] in 1928 and then at the Salon d'Automne [Autumn Salon] in 1929.

The swivel armchair features backrest and seat cushion padded in polyurethane foam and polyester batting, with leather or fabric upholstery. Since 2016, the armchair has undergone a major structural update that led to obtaining certification from Catas, a talian research and testing center specializing in the textile and furniture industry that focus on product testing and research.

In 1922, Le Corbusier began working in the new rue de Sèvres, Paris, atelier with his cousin Pierre Jeanneret with whom he shared research projects and design criteria in a profound and life-long professional relationship. In October 1927, the pair decided to draw on the contribution of a young architect who had already begun to establish a reputation on the architectural scene of the time: Charlotte Perriand. Their collaboration lasted through to 1937 and was extremely fruitful, especially in the field of furniture design. The partnership was highly significant, both in terms of the cultural weight of their achievements and their professional successes. It was together with Charlotte Perriand that the pair tackled the innovative project for “l’équipement d'intérieur de l’habitation”. The resulting designs were of great intellectual value and considerable commercial success. Thanks to Cassina’s ongoing production, there is continued interest in the conceptual contents of the work and the level of quality attained.Due to these characteristics, each item in the collection is eagerly awaited.

Established in 1927 by Cesare and Umberto Cassina in Meda, near Milan, Cassina launched industrial design in Italy in the 1950s, based on a totally innovative approach that marked the transition from artisan production to mass production. Throughout its history, Cassina has been a melting pot of design luminaries. In the 1950s, it forged an iconic partnership with architects like Le Corbusier, Pierre Jeanneret, and Charlotte Perriand, creating legendary pieces such as the LC1 Sling Chair and LC2 Grand Confort sofa. These collaborations revolutionized furniture design, emphasizing form and function in equal measure.

One of Cassina's remarkable aspects is its ability to transcend eras. The brand's reissues of iconic designs retain their original essence while adapting to modern sensibilities, appealing to new generations of design enthusiasts. This blend of heritage and contemporary relevance is exemplified in pieces like the LC4 Chaise Longue, a timeless icon of comfort and style. Cassina's collaborations extend beyond mid-century architects.
