In an exclusive cooperation for the Portuguese market, Area is presenting Louise Roe, an innovative interior design brand based in Copenhagen, in a mutual acknowledgement of their work through the years. Created and founded by Louise Roe Andersen, the eponymous collection explores impeccable designs through a lens of artistic intuition.
The main collection is sketched and designed by Louise, herself. Emphasising a deep appreciation for European craftsmanship, the entire array originates from solely natural materials, encompassing a variety of interior objects, from larger furniture to tableware, sculptural vases, lamps, and textiles.
THE DESIGNER
Louise holds a degree in fashion and concept development, which has familiarised her with the entire spectrum of production processes. She strives to establish a harmonious balance among shapes, materials, visual weights, and more.
Inspired by the Bauhaus period and Hausmannian design, she captures a charming synergy between masculine and feminine design qualities. Much of her inspiration derives from geometrical shapes, appreciating when architectural spaces awaken, soothe, and motivate the human senses.
“It often begins with a need or a question. Should it be an accent piece or a complementing object - a solo performer or a backing group member? I enjoy employing wax to model different shapes, often because a tiny dent with the thumb can make all the difference. It's almost like a balancing act: a small choir of corresponding colour and shape.”
PRODUCTION
The entire collection embraces honest materials like glass, ceramic, textile, stone and oak. Louise values her close relationship with skillful craftspeople whom she both challenges and trusts.
