The artist’s love of clay esquisitely expressed in this table lamp.
Inspired by the traditional lamp with wooden, stone or ceramic base and fabric lampshade, but this time created in ceramic from top to bottom on a potter’s wheel.
The designer played with the shape of the lampshade, making it oval, and then joined it with the conical base. She chose an off-white hue – a perfect match for any interior. The result is a pure, elegant design with a few rough details that bring out the handcrafted character of the lamp.
Alex Gabriels began her career as an art director in the advertising industry, but started working as a freelancer to be able to pursuit ceramics. She enrolled in an artistic ceramics course, and in 2020, she started working full-time in functional ceramics, a passion she inherited from her mother.
" Ever since I was a child, my mother told me that a table should look nice and cozy, because then your food just tastes much better and the moments at the table get something magical. I try to transform every lump of clay into a beautiful plate, an original baking dish, a beautiful vase or a nice bowl with a lot of passion and love.”
