A comfortable chair made of traditional materials like wood and leather featuring simple but elegant construction details. A stool with three rectangular-sectioned legs, two front legs at the sides and a central leg at the rear, joined together by a solid T-shaped cross structure, which is as stable as a traditional chair with four legs.
In Tre 3, a piece of leather has been placed in the high rear leg which gently descends to smoothly and seamlessly give shape to the back and seat. This is a rereading of a kind of chair previously created by leading figures of Nordic design. The “3T” chair took Angelo Mangiarotti closer to the work of another great 20th-century maestro, Carlo Scarpa, who influenced all those designers who believed attention to detail was something to be explored and honoured.
One of the great names of Twentieth century Italian design, a committed, cultivated and brilliant designer, capable of embracing the ideals of the Modern Movement and going beyond them with his experimental and extremely original designs, Angelo Mangiarotti has succeeded in applying his unique talent to projects of different scales, ranging from architecture to design.
An advocate of rigorous functionalism, he has never neglected the pursuit of elegance and beauty in his work. He pushed beyond conventional boundaries and moved into sculpture with his skillful reflections on plasticity and form, always using contemporary materials and production processes. His approach, and the principles that underlie it, have always been the result of a profound awareness of the importance of values that have an ethical dimension. Angelo Mangiarotti has created his own ‘happiness’ through the ‘correctness’ of his practice, cleverly managing to reconcile the inescapable dualism of ethics and aesthetics.
In 2009, after years of fruitful and engaging collaboration with the Master on a number of iconic projects for Agape, the friendship, the affection and the admiration for Angelo Mangiarotti, naturally lead the Benedini brothers to the acquisition of the production rights of the majority of the works in his archives. The Agapecasa brand is born, destined to give space to the original re-editions of the “Mangiarotti Collection”.
This collection faithfully reproduces some of Mangiarotti’s most famous projects, now made taking into account the demand for a more contemporary production, introducing only minimal variations in construction, but carefully preserving the theoretical, compositional and formal aspects of one of the great artists of the twentieth century.
As a further guarantee of quality and in line with the ongoing effort to upgrade technology that distinguishes Agape’s production, the “Mangiarotti Collection” is also equipped with an innovative system of certification that makes it possible to trace all relevant data and characteristics, from serial number to dealer’s name and even customer, and from the materials to the technologies used in production to certify the undiscussed originality of the product.
