Aki Jr, the junior version of Aki, retains exactly the same design.
A compact version of the iconic Aki umbrella stand - designed by Rodolfo Bonetto in 1975 - preserving its original shape. In this mini-variant, it becomes a practical pen stand/object holder made in two different materials: coloured-in-the-mass concrete and solid wood.
Born in Milan in 1929, Rodolfo Bonetto abandoned a successful career as a jazz drummer to devote himself to the profession of designer.
He started up his own business in 1958 and in the years that followed worked in a large number of industrial fields ranging from the designing of tooling machines to clocks, lamps, ski boots, surgical lasers and motorcars.
Being self-taught, he was so keenly oriented towards design praxis as to provide an important contribution to the teaching of industrial design at the Hochschule für Gestaltung in Ulm and later on at Istituto Superiore per le Industrie Artistiche in Rome.
He was awarded eight Compasso D’Oro awards, the last of which was for his own professional career. He died in Milan in 1991.
B-Line is a company, brainchild of its founder, Giorgio Bordin, that restores life to several historical icons of design on the Italian scenario. Of the products re-edited, some have made history contaminating many facets of art and design, shaping their style and interpreting the mood of the fabulous Sixties and Seventies.
B-Line’s path started therefore in 1999 with the recovery of the original moulds, re-introducing, and at times also revisiting in contemporary style, famous pieces like Joe Colombo’s Boby storage trolley unit. From the very beginning, side by side with its re-editions, B-Line places contemporary furnishing accessories, resulting from collaborations with international designers.
The company pays particular attention to the sustainability and durability of its products, whose materials are entirely made in Italy. B-Line's commitment to the environment involves the entire production process with its finished and semi-finished products regularly subjected to careful quality control procedures.
