The traditional ‘roll arm’, an elegant detail uncommon in modular sofas, is given a simpli- fied, modern expression, and its archetypical curves replaced with more minimal lines. A slender wooden frame atop metal legs is filled with generous, soft cushions, curved for a snug fit around the armrest, facilitating both seated and reclined positions.

The careful- ly formulated combination and layering of springs, foam and feathers offer indisputable comfort, while maintaining the Flaneur Sofa’s precise silhouette, emphasized by immacute three-millimeter piping around the seat and backrest cushions. For additional comfort, optional loose cushions are also available.

GamFratesi Studio was established in 2006 by the Danish architect Stine Gam (born 1975) and the Italian architect Enrico Fratesi (born 1978). As a pair, they operate in symbiosis, sharing everything across their personal and professional lives. Gam takes a particular and thoughtful approach to design, while Fratesi moves more conceptually and energetically.  Their design takes its creative drive from a fusion of tradition and renewal and in an experimental approach to their chosen materials and techniques.

With their diverse traditional background, they draw on the classic Danish furniture and craft tradition as well as the timeless Italian intellectual and conceptual approach. From this cross-cultural partnership, they create furniture that respectfully reflect tradition while also featuring unique embedded stories, symbols and associations, often expressed in a minimalist idiom.

This design duo has been working with Gubi since the inception of their studio and, with their own dual heritage, share Gubi’s ability to synthesize seemingly opposing ideas – the classic and the contemporary, the intellectual and the eclectic, the understated and the expressive, the manufactured and the unique.

Gubi is a Copenhagen based design house renowned for designing, developing, and marketing a daring and elegant collection of furniture, lighting and interior objects that resonates across the globe. Its signature pieces evoke emotion and tell meaningful stories that make them both timeless and enduring. Gubi brings forgotten icons of the past together with tomorrow’s classics. The result is a visionary collection that spans almost 100 years of history and is sold all over the world.

Founded by his parents in 1967 – the year that the current owner and creative director, Jacob Gubi, was born – Gubi originally focused on producing the family’s own furniture designs and trading textiles within the retail sector. Over the years, Jacob Gubi’s creative vision and courageous intuition has led Gubi to its current position in the global design scene with a handpicked edit of high-quality furniture from all over the world and collaborations with both esteemed designers and archives and contemporary emerging talents.
