The Helicon table is born from the encounter between technical mastery and visual perception. A thin spun metal sheet takes shape in a continuous profile which, beneath the glass surface, generates an unexpected visual depth. The eye is guided toward the center by a fluid curve that seems to open the space, creating an almost hypnotic optical effect. The glass top becomes a transparent threshold: not merely a functional surface, but an element that reveals the table’s internal construction and amplifies its poetic dimension. The metal, crafted with precision, transforms into a light gesture that invites the gaze to explore the form.
Helicon’s structure changes its voice through colour. Matte finishes do not reflect: they absorb light, hold it, and transform it into atmosphere. Dark tones sharpen the gesture, almost graphic, lending the table a deep sense of calm, while lighter nuances soften the design and allow the purity of its proportions to emerge—like a mark resting in space without sound. In every choice, Desalto colours restore tactility and silence: the structure enters into dialogue with its surroundings, shaping a different character each time.
Kensaku Oshiro is an award-winning Japanese designer based in Milan, Italy. Born in 1977 on Okinawa Island, Kensaku spent his formative years in Japan before moving to Italy. He graduated from the Scuola Politecnica di Design in Milan in 1999 and, after significant work experiences at renowned design studios in Milan and London, he founded his own studio in Milan in 2015. Kensaku Oshiro’s design approach focuses on understanding the core values of the relevant culture and environment and highlighting them. He sees each project as a unique challenge to be solved on its own terms, distilling limitless possibilities down to a single ideal solution. Drawing on his multicultural experience, his work extends across a variety of fields, from product design to architectural projects, from high-quality craftsmanship to industrial-scale production.
For nearly 30 years, Desalto has spread worldwide an idea of an aesthetically sophisticated product based on constant technical and technological research focused on greater functionality. Thirty years of activity make Desalto a young but also time-honoured brand.
A young spirit capable of combining iconic seating and complements, like graphic signs sketched in the air, with tables as adaptable as everyday life is. But also a story which began in 1990 when the four Orsenigo brothers – the heirs of a metalworking family company – envisaged a firm that would be more in step with the times and, from the very beginning, called on the cooperation of established or up-and- coming designers.
Excellent quality and production capacity are just two of Desalto's distinguishing characteristics which have made it one of the Italian companies considered ambassadors of Italian design throughout the world.
