With its wide, welcoming seat and low height, Hee Lounge is definitely the most laid-back model in the Hee series. Although the elemental design is manifested here in more relaxed proportions, it still retains the same light, understated aesthetics and functional properties as the rest of the family.
Stackable and weather-proof, the Hee Lounge Chair can be used in outdoor surroundings, as well as inside restaurants, bars and in a home environment.
Hee Welling is a Danish furniture designer who founded his own studio in Copenhagen in 2003. The son of a cabinetmaker, Welling’s fascination with production techniques, materials, and machinery was fired as a child. He went on to study at The University of Art and Design in Helsinki, and received his master’s degree in furniture design from The Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts. Centred around the idea of creating technically accomplished products that can reach a wide audience, his designs are characterised by a great sense of proportion and quietly elegant aesthetics.
Welling has received a number of design awards, including the Bo Bedre Award (Denmark), Good Design Award (USA), and has been nominated as Danish designer of the year in 2013 and 2014. For HAY, Welling has designed the About A series and the Hee Collection.
Founded in Copenhagen in 2002, HAY was born out of a desire to make high-quality, architectural design accessible to a wider audience. Founders Rolf and Mette Hay set out to collaborate with the world’s most talented and forward-thinking contemporary designers to create pieces that are functional, beautiful, and fundamentally joyful.
HAY doesn't just look to traditional furniture design for inspiration. Their vibrant color palettes, clean structural lines, and unexpected materials are heavily influenced by the dynamism of modern fashion, the structure of architecture, and the original spirit of contemporary art.
