Designed by Philippe Malouin, Mimi is an inviting sofa defined by the interplay between precise structure and a fluid silhouette. Its concise, sculpted contours are softened by gently draped upholstery, giving the design a relaxed yet refined expression. A generous central cushion provides comfort, while the tailored cover falls over the frame like a softly draped blanket, creating a balanced contrast between form and softness. Precise stitching along the upper edges emphasises the sofa’s defined outline before gradually loosening into a skirted base, where the fabric flows more freely. This subtle transition also signals the removable over, emphasising Mimi’s adaptable and long-lasting design. Developed for flexible use, the cover can be removed and replaced, allowing the appearance to evolve over time.

Available in multiple sizes and as an ottoman, Mimi comes in a curated selection of fabrics and can be complemented with matching square or rectangular cushions for added comfort.

Born in Canada in 1982, Philippe Malouin is a British-Canadian product designer and interior architect. His work balances functional clarity with a more sculptural approach, exploring material, form, and process to create pieces that are both practical and expressive.

Today, he is based in London, where he continues to develop furniture, objects, and installations from his studio. For HAY, Philippe Malouin has designed the Mimi Sofa.

Founded in Copenhagen in 2002, HAY was born out of a desire to make high-quality, architectural design accessible to a wider audience. Founders Rolf and Mette Hay set out to collaborate with the world’s most talented and forward-thinking contemporary designers to create pieces that are functional, beautiful, and fundamentally joyful.

HAY doesn't just look to traditional furniture design for inspiration. Their vibrant color palettes, clean structural lines, and unexpected materials are heavily influenced by the dynamism of modern fashion, the structure of architecture, and the original spirit of contemporary art.

In today’s world, the lines between our personal and professional spaces are more fluid than ever. HAY designs with this modern reality in mind. Whether it's a sleek lounge chair, a cleverly designed desk lamp, or even a beautifully minimalist toothbrush, HAY reimagines the everyday objects we interact with, infusing them with fresh energy and functional longevity.
